My fiance and I attended the Dedrick Flynn Orchestra's Christmas show for the first time, hoping to enjoy the holiday classics. The orchestra's performance was exceptional, almost like a studio recording in its flawless execution. However, I was disappointed with the song selection, particularly those sung by Melinda Doolittle. Many of the songs before the intermission felt unfamiliar or were sung in a way that seemed foreign. I would have preferred to hear classics like "Silent Night" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" from her. Fortunately, the second half of the show showcased more traditional holiday tunes that pleased us both. Overall, it was a good show, but we would have preferred a more traditional song lineup.
